Rivalries Edit

Southern Nevada has had two major rivals since joining the SWAC in 2002. The first was the Dixie State Rebels of St. George, Utah. Dixie State had been the perennial powerhouse in SWAC baseball before Southern Nevada joined the conference. The two teams would usually be at the top of the SWAC conference standings (sharing the regular season conference championship in 2004) and met in multiple conference championship series. The rivalry was discontinued when Dixie State made the transition from junior college to four-year college and became affiliated with the NCAA in Division II.

Promptly replacing Dixie State was the Western Nevada Wildcats in Carson City, Nevada, who fielded their first varsity baseball squad in 2006, the same year Dixie State left for the NCAA. The Coyotes and Wildcats have an intense rivalry and are usually head-to-head in the conference standings and have met in the conference tournament finals the past two seasons, with Western Nevada winning in 2007 and Southern Nevada winning in 2008.
