Ramón Santo Ramírez (born August 31, 1981 in Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic) is a Major League Baseball pitcher for the Boston Red Sox. He previously played for the Colorado Rockies, having been acquired from the New York Yankees in the Shawn Chacon trade, and for the Kansas City Royals before being traded to Boston for Coco Crisp.

Ramírez made his Major League Baseball debut with the Colorado Rockies on April 14, 2006, against the Philadelphia Phillies at Coors Field in Denver, Colorado.

Major League careerEdit

In his rookie season in 2006, Ramírez set a Rockies record by compiling the longest scoreless streak by a reliever to begin a career. He did not allow a run in his first 15 1/3 innings pitched. His streak ended on May 15, 2006, when Nomar Garciaparra of the Los Angeles Dodgers hit an RBI single scoring Dodger pitcher Brett Tomko from third base.

He was traded to the Royals on March 26, 2008.

On November 19, 2008, Ramírez was traded to the Boston Red Sox for outfielder Coco Crisp.[1]
