Kris Johnson (born October 14, 1984 in West Covina, California)[1] is a professional baseball starting pitcher in the Boston Red Sox organization. In 2008 Baseball America ranked him as Boston's number 4 pitching prospect.[2] Coming into 2009, he was ranked within the top 20 prospects within the Red Sox system. [3]

DraftEdit

Johnson was drafted in the first round of the 2006 Major League Baseball Draft.

Minor League CareerEdit

He spent the 2008 season at the Red Sox's AA affiliate, the Portland Sea Dogs. He threw a 3.63 ERA for the year.[4]

He spent 2009 between the Red Sox AAA affiliate, the Pawtucket Red Sox and the Portland Sea Dogs. He amassed a 3-16 record with a 6.35 ERA, and led the minors with most losses.[5]

He was invited to spring training with the Red Sox in 2010, but John Farrell sat him down and told him to go back to being the pitcher they all knew he was. Johnson credits Rich Sauveur as the reason to his success this season.[6]
