Scouting reportEdit

Hultzen was considered one of the most polished prospects in the 2011 MLB Draft class due to the excellent command he has over his pitches.[4]

Danny Hultzen was selected with the second overall pick in the 2011 MLB draft by the Seattle Mariners

Hultzen's top pitch is his changeup, deemed virtually Major League ready, due to its heavy drop and 3/4 release point (identical to his fastball). His fastball is thrown consistently in the low 90s and can touch 96 mph. He also throws an 85-87 mph slider.

In addition to his pitches, Hultzen is considered an excellent position player, although it's unlikely that he'll ever be developed as a position prospect.[5]
