Vernon Christopher Carter (born December 18, 1986 in Redwood City, California) is a professional baseball player who is a first baseman and designated hitter for the Acereros de Monclova of the Mexican League. Carter was drafted by the Chicago White Sox in the 18th Round of the 2005 MLB Draft. During the 2007 offseason, Carter was traded to the Arizona Diamondbacks for Carlos Quentin.[1] He would be traded two weeks later to the Oakland Athletics as part of the package to bring Dan Haren to Arizona.[2] Carter attended Sierra Vista High School in Las Vegas, Nevada before entering the professional ranks, winning the NIAA Class 4A state championship in 2005.
