Billy Hamilton is a Minor League Baseball prospect with the Cincinnati Reds organization. As of August 22, 2012, he is with the Class AA team Pensacola Blue Wahoos. He has previously played with the Bakersfield Blaze and Dayton Dragons.

Hamilton is rated as the Cincinnati Reds's #1 prospect.

As of August 22, 2012, Hamilton's position is shortstop. He was born on September 9, 1990 in Taylorsville, MS. He is a switch-hitter and throws right-handed.[1]

On August 21, 2012, in a game against the Montgomery Biscuits, Hamilton set the professional baseball record for the most stolen bases in a single season, surpassing the previous record of 145 by Vince Coleman. Hamilton stole three bases in the record-setting game.[2] [3]

On August 26, 2012, it was reported that Reds general manager Walt Jocketty was considering promoting Hamilton to the Reds as part of the September 1 roster expansion.[4]

In 2013, Hamilton was promoted to Triple-A Louisville Bats and had been moved to center field. He remains ranked as the team's top prospect.[5]
