- 1967 - Johnny Bench makes his major league debut, playing against the Philadelphia Phillies.

- 2000 - Tim Hudson pitches a complete-game one-hitter against the Chicago White Sox.
- 2005 - Jason Giambi of the New York Yankees collects his 1500th hit and drives in the 1000th RBI of his major league career in a 10-3 win over the Kansas City Royals.
- 2008 - The New York Yankees defeat the Boston Red Sox 3-2 in the final meeting of the two rivals at Yankee Stadium. Jason Giambi hit a two-run homer to tie the game in the 7th inning, and later hit a walk-off single of Red Sox closer Jonathan Papelbon.
