- 1998 - Cal Ripken, Jr. scores his 1500th career run in the Orioles 6-3 win over the Cleveland Indians.
- 1999 - Mark McGwire, the St. Louis Cardinals first baseman, becomes the first player in major league history to hit 50 home runs in four consecutive seasons, with numbers 49 and 50 for the year at Shea Stadium.

- 2000 - Brent Mayne, catcher for the Colorado Rockies, becomes the first position player to be credited with a win since Rocky Colavito for the Yankees in 1968. He pitches a scorless 12th inning as the Rockies beat the Braves 7-6.
